| | | ElRay D. Abels, age 75, of Rushmore, Minnesota passed away on Friday September 26,2008 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
ElRay Abels was born in Sibley,Iowa on February 2, 1933, the son of Fred J. and Anna(Klassen) Abels. He attended Sibley schools. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
ElRay was united in marriage with Harriet J. DeWeerd of Sibley on September 3, 1955 in Sibley,Ia. The couple divorced in 1989, but remained friends. He farmed in the Sibley, Ocheyedan, Adrian,Mn, and Rushmore, Mn. areas until he moved into town in 1996.
He is survived by Harriet of Sioux Falls, SD, Son Gary Abels of Brewster, Mn, Son Marvin Abels and his wife Marsha of Hartford, SD., Daughter Linda VanderHagen of Lincoln, Ne., Son Brian Abels of Lincoln, Ne., Daughter Lisa Scholz and her husband Ron of Lincoln, Ne., and Daughter Darla Ling and her husband Dave of Renner, SD.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters Bernice Kimble of Everett, Wa, and Thelma Patrick of Sun City,Az.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Delbert and Robert"Bob" Abels.
