| | | Adella Baumgarn, age 77, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan. Rev. Douglas Harding officiating.
Burial in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan.
Visitation will be Friday, October 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan.
Adella Mae Baumgarn was born on March 1, 1931, in Hartley, Iowa. She was the daughter of Wilhelm and Edna (Schierholz) Lux. She lived her youth in Hartley where she attended Moneta Consolidated School and graduated from high school in 1949.
She was united in marriage to Donald Baumgarn of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on December 6, 1953 in Hartley. They lived in the Ocheyedan area, where they farmed. Adella worked at Don and Jo’s Café in Ocheyedan, Sathers in Round Lake, Minnesota, and the last 10 years for Red’s Café in Hartley, where she was working for her nephew, Steve Lux. Donald passed away in 1991. Adella moved to town in 1992.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Adella enjoyed her family, cooking, playing Pinochle on Saturday afternoons, and gardening before she had knee surgery.
She passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, three sons and one daughter: Bruce and Katie Baumgarn of Madrid, IA, and their children: Ashley, Emily, Elizabeth and Nicholas; Gary Baumgarn and special friend Connie of Fostoria, IA; Douglas Baumgarn of Ocheyedan, IA, and his son: Ryan and fiancee Robin; Julie and Gary Tracy of Ocheyedan, IA, and their children: Greg and fiancee Tami, Jill and husband Dusty Handley, and Jodi; three sisters: LaVonne Van Houten of Sibley, IA; Joyce and Junior Wagner of Hartley, IA; Janet and Dan Shinkle of Milford, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald, parents, one brother: Dale Lux.
