Klazina Cassens, age 98, of Sibley, Iowa, formerly of George, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008, at Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 1:30 P.M. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa. Rev. Marvin Kanengieter officiating.

Burial in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25, 2008, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home of Sibley.

Klazina Cassens was born on June 3, 1910, in Orange City, Iowa. She was the daughter of S.A. Ko and Kathryn (Hofland) Kalsbeek. She lived her youth in Sanborn, Sheldon and Rock Rapids, Iowa. She attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School and graduated from Wilson High School in 1929, now Central Lyon. She taught at a country school in Lyon County for 4 years.
She was united in marriage to Fred Cassens of George, Iowa, on October 26, 1933, at her parents home in Rock Rapids. They lived in Rock Rapids for a short time before moving to George. Fred passed away in 1980. Klazina moved to Sibley in 1982.
She was a former member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa, where she taught Bible School, was active in the Ladies Circle and was the church hostess for 20 years. She transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church in Sibley, where she was a member of the Esther Circle.
Klazina lived at the Country View Manor in Sibley, where she was very active. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, booties and sweaters. At age 96, she learned to use the computer for e-mailing.
She passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008, at Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters: Kathryn and Kenneth Winkowitsch of Sibley, IA, Vivienne and Gerald Gebauer of Harlingen, TX; one son: Paul and Connie Cassens of Urbandale, IA; daughter-in-law: Elsie Cassens of Humbolt, IA; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Fred; two sons: Ronald and Russell; one great-granddaughter: Joslin Winkowitsch; one grandson: Curtis Gebauer; her parents; 3 brothers: Gerald, Jay and Henry; one sister: Goverina.
