| | | Dorothy (Albright Kruse) Larsen, age 66, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Boyden, Iowa. Pastor Kim Peterson and Pastor Dale Lint officiating.
Burial in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Boyden, Iowa.
Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2009, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon, Iowa.
Dorothy Ann (Albright Kruse) Larsen was born on April 30, 1942, the daughter of Harold and Zella (Eldregde) Albright, in Volga, South Dakota. Dorothy attended Oakwood School and later graduated from Volga High School in 1960. After graduation she worked at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There she met Ron Kruse and the two were united in marriage on March 3, 1962, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Volga, South Dakota. The couple moved to Boyden, Iowa, and had four children. In 1973, Dorothy went to Beauty School and then enjoyed her own salon. In 1989, the Kruse couple divorced. Dorothy moved to Arizona, where she worked in a beauty shop for one year. She then returned to live in Sheldon, Iowa and worked at Tyson. She enjoyed attending dances on Friday nights where she met a wonderful man, James Douglas Larsen, who became her best friend. After a short courtship, they were united in marriage, on October 8, 1993, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boyden, Iowa. The couple traveled together on their honeymoon for nine years. They moved to Arizona where Dorothy drove a school bus for six years. The couple then returned to Sibley, Iowa, where they planned to stay. Dorothy enjoyed playing card games and visiting with family and friends. Dorothy was diagnosed with Leukemia in October 2008.
On Saturday, December 27, 2008, Dorothy passed away at Sanford Medical Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa, at the age of sixty-six.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of fifteen years, James Larsen of Sibley, IA; three children, son Rick (wife Penny) Kruse of Cedar Falls, IA, daughter Brenda Kruse of Murrieta, CA, and daughter Patty (husband Steve) Rohwer of Sheldon, IA; three stepchildren, Mary (husband John) Tobin of Anaheim, CA, Bruce (wife Linda) Larsen of Coon Rapids, MN, Chris Larsen of California; five grandchildren, Kristin and Tawnee (mother Judy K.) Kruse, Brandon Kruse, and Michael and Stephanie Rohwer; two step-grandchildren, Kristin and Jeff Tobin; three great-grandchildren, Jamari Kruse-White, and Ryder and Caden Kruse; three brothers, George Albright of Volga, SD, Bob (wife Carol) Albright of Melbourne, FL, and Jack (wife Dixie) of Cave Creek, AZ; brother-in-law, Robert (wife Judy D.) Kruse of Sheldon, IA; sisters-in-law, Cozette Albright of Colorado, and Helen Albright of Colorado; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Zella Albright, brother, Gerald Albright, daughter Debra (father Ron) Kruse, mother-in-law, Emma Kruse, and sister-in-law, Verna Albright.
