Laura Frances Christians was born on December 3, 1915, in Viola Township, Osceola County, Sibley, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Lovina (Moar) Odens. She lived her youth near Little Rock, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated from high school in Little Rock, in 1934. She attended Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught country schools for several years in Viola and West Holman Townships, in Osceola County.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Christians of Little Rock, Iowa, on November 25, 1937, in Grundy Center, Iowa. They lived and farmed east of Little Rock. Clarence passed away on May 19, 1999. Laura continued to live on the farm, where she lived for 71 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, since 1931, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of World Service.
Laura enjoyed having her great-grandchildren around her. They would always bring a smile to her face. She’d sit and read stories to them and bake her great-grandma chocolate chip cookies. She sewed and crocheted many things for them. She lived only a mile away and was always there for her family and ready to do whatever was needed. They were blessed to have her with them, all these years.
