| | | August Kuipers, age 87, of Sioux Center, Iowa, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Royal Meadows in Sioux Center.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating.
Burial in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be prior to the Funeral Service.
August Kuipers was born on July 11, 1921, in Worthington, Minnesota. He was the son of Albert and Grace (Dykstra) Kuipers. He lived his youth in Worthington, where he attended school. Gus moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa, where he worked for different farmers as a farm hand.
He was united in marriage to Ermina (Cochran) TeBrake of Sibley, Iowa, on August 23, 1975, in Sibley, Iowa. They lived in Sibley, where Gus worked for Chase Bag Company, until he retired.
Gus enjoyed vegetable gardening and riding his bike.
Ermina passed away on February 6, 1999. After her death, Gus moved to Sioux Center, Iowa, to be closer to Barb and her family.
While Gus was living at the Royal Meadows in Sioux Center, he tried to be involved in all of the activities. He enjoyed playing games, going to the Tulip Festival, riding on the Queen at the lakes, and going to the circus in Sioux City. He really enjoyed celebrating birthdays with birthday cake.
He passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Royal Meadows in Sioux Center.
Those left to cherish his memories are his step-children: Theresa Steinke of Unionville, MO, Barb and Kelvin Eekhoff of Sioux Center, IA, Donna and Dan Westerhaus of Winside, NE, Jon and Bonnie TeBrake of Carroll, IA; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ermina; his parents; two sisters and one brother.
