| | | Carol Paul Woods, age 99, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Carol Paul Woods was born on July 25, 1909, in Eldora, Iowa. He was the son of Paul C. and Amy (Luther) Woods. He moved with his family to Sheldon, Iowa, in 1912, when his father bought the Sheldon Mail Newspaper. He lived his youth and attended school in Sheldon. He graduated from Sheldon High School and Sheldon Junior College. He worked at the Sheldon Mail Newspaper.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Tillman of Sheldon, Iowa, on December 6, 1940, in Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon, where Carol continued to work at the Sheldon Mail Newspaper, until his father passed away, and then he became the owner, editor and publisher, of the newspaper. He retired in 1972.
Carol and Mildred enjoyed going to their cottage at Lake Okoboji, since 1938, collecting books and antiques, photography, and wintering in Carmel, California.
Carol enjoyed mystery books, including English Detective, Sherlock Holmes. He was a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society. (Maiwand Jezails). He was also a member of the Iowa Newspaper Association.
He has attended the United Methodist Church in Sheldon.
Carol passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Mildred; nieces and nephews: Janet Keillor of Mt. Vernon, WA, and her children: Nancy Chandler, Judith Pierce, Carole Davis, Jackie Medley, Barbara Beeney, and Mary Voss; Marilyn Tillman Rowe of Huntington Beach, CA, and her daughter: Kathryn Rowe; David and wife Janet Tillman of Newport Beach, CA, and their son: Timothy Tillman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Kenneth Woods; one sister: Lucile Woods; one grand niece: Kerrie Tillman Anderson.
