Elinor Mayer, age 90, of Marshall, Minnesota, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 2:30 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Rev. Travis Gerjets officiating.

Burial in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Saturday, from 1:00 to 2:15 P.M. prior to the Funeral Service at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Elinor Mayer was born on June 23, 1919, in Sibley, Iowa. She was the daughter of Alonzo and Irene (Pulscher) Dagel. She lived her youth in rural Sibley, Iowa, and attended a country school in West Holman Township. She attended Melvin High School in Melvin, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to John P. Mayer Jr. of Sibley, Iowa, on August 20, 1937, in Parker, South Dakota. They lived and farmed in rural Sibley until 1968, when they retired. Elinor was John’s caregiver until he passed away on April 26, 1978. Elinor moved into Sibley, in 1979. Several years later she moved to Marshall, Minnesota, to Boulder Estates.
Elinor enjoyed traveling and visiting her children, gardening, playing Bingo, playing cards, baking, cooking, and especially fishing.
She will be remembered as a sweet and loving person who enjoyed her family, and was a friend to anyone at anytime. She always took time to welcome people where she lived.
Elinor passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Mavis M. Walbran of Marshall, MN, John Milo and Mary Mayer of Sibley, IA, Cynthia and Les Peterson of Aloha, OR, Jeffrey J. and Carol Mayer of Plymouth, MN; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother: Edward Dagel of Sibley, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; one brother: Merle Dagel; one sister: Pearl Hensch; three sisters in infancy: Frances, Helen and Eleanor.
