EAST BOSTON-Mr. Pasquale “Pat” J. Abruzzese, 91 years, died unexpectedly on Monday at his home.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Luigi and Teresa (Ricci) Abruzzese. The former proprietor of Heritage Paper Products, Pat still was selling products to his accounts in the North End, who referred to him as the “Mayor of the North End.” A Boston College graduate and an Army Sergeant during World War II serving in the 306th Ordnance Division, European Theater. Loved by all who knew him, Pat being proud of his Italian heritage took annual trips to visit relatives in Italy.

He is survived by his sister Eda McCarthy of New Hampshire, one nephew John McCarthy of New Hampshire, three nieces; Loisa Kerwin & her husband Dan of FL, Terese Bugieda & her husband Anthony of NH, Bettina Ford & her husband Steve of NH & their families. He was the long time companion of Sarah Favuzza of the North End and the brother of the late Assunta Abruzzese and Marian Velardo.

SERVICE INFORMATION
A funeral will be held from the Porcella Funeral Home, 876 Winthrop Ave., (Beachmont) REVERE, on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston, at 11 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
