| | | Donna Joyce (Corbeil) Boggs, 56 of Airport Road, Mount Croghan, South Carolina, formerly of Clay, Massachusetts native, died on Thursday evening, June 14, 2007 at the Brigham an Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts as she was surrounded by the love of her devoted and dedicated family. She was the cherished wife of Michael J. Boggs of Mount Croghan, South Carolina to who she was married on February 18, 1972.
Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, on October 6, 1950, she was a daughter of Elaine M.
(Charbonneau) Corbeil of Mansfield and the late Donald J. Corbeil.
Raised and educated in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Mrs. Boggs was a graduate of Bishop
Feehan High School. Education was always very important to her and she continued her
Education by receiving her teaching degree from the former Framingham State College
and earned two masters degrees in education from the University of South Carolina.
In earlier years, while living in Attieboro, she was a communicant of St. John the
Evangelist Church.
For the past 17 years, Mrs. Boggs worked for the Chesterfield County School District in
South Carolina where she was currently employed as a school administrator and vice
principal of Pageland Elementary School.
Her life centered around her family and her responsibilities as a devoted, passionate
educator who spent her entire life furthering her education to constantly improve her
career. Her students were of utmost importance to her and she devoted and volunteered
much time to ensure they had the tools to become successful in life’s endeavors. Her
family recalls with fondness an unselfish woman who will be remembered by her
colleagues and students as a shameless promoter of education and on of the district’s
“great educators” whom was consumed by her job an the importance of it in the
community.
She loved to live simply, working everyday and spending her extra time tending to her
home.
She will be remembered for being stoic and strong and would have liked others
experiencing trials and tribulations in their own lives to ”never lose hope”.
A resident of South Carolina for the 17 years, she had previously resided in Clay,
West Virginia from 1974- 1990. She recently returned to Massachusetts to be with her
entire family as she faced illness with courage and bravery.
An ardent gardener, Mrs. Boggs was will know in her neighborhood for her “green
thumb” and the beautiful flower boxes that included her favorites - petunias and
impatiens, among others. Often time’s passersby would comment of her abilities. She
enjoyed the time spent beautifying her property and would often mow the lawn whether it
needed to be cut or not!
In addition to her husband of 35 years and her mother, she leaves two daughters; Susan
“Michelle” Frigon and her husband, Jason W. Frigon, of North Attleboro and Rachael M. Boggs and her companion of many years, Gary “Bruce” Douglas, of Mount Croghan,
South Carolina; a granddaughter; Saoirse Frigon of North Attleboro ; a brother; Richard Corbell of Attleboro; a sister; Susan O’Neil and her husband, Michael, of Foxbore
and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, colleagues and present
and past admiring students.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23,2007 at the Reed Cemetery, Clay with Richard Whipkey officiating. Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay is in charge of arrangements.
