Arthur Day Brady, 96 of Clay, went home to be with the Lord February 8, 2008 at Braxton Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 17, 1911, in Widen, he was the son of the late John Jacob and Mary Ellen Brady, the first baby born in Widen. In addition to his parents, he was alson preceded in death by 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
He was a retired railroad worker for BC&G Railroad, and a member of Pleasant Dale Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He also belonged to the Civilian Conservation Corp, and assisted in building Hawks Nest and Babcock State Parks. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Arthur lived a good simple life, worked hard, and loved to garden.
Survivors include his wife, Alta Himmel Brady of Clay; sons, Curtis Workman of Concord, NC, Otto Workman of Clay, Charles Brady of Clay, Hollie Brady of Summersville; daughter, Evelyn McGlothlin of Clay; sisters, Bernice Sparks of Dixie, and Coretta Ramsey of Roanoke, WV; 18 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Clay, with Minster Kenneth Adkins officiating, Burial will follow in the Ramsey Cemetery, Enoch.
Friends may call frm 6:00PM - 8:00PM Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the funeral home.
