| | | Cecil Gene Pettus, age 81, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009. He was born June 15, 1928, in Pearson, Arkansas, a son of the late Cecil Pettus and Bessie Linton Pettus. He was a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. He retired after 36 years from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and 14 years as a Bailiff with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Sue Jackson Pettus of Conway; daughter, Suellen Pettus Kirk of Conway; one sister, Inez Godwin of Little Rock; one sister-in-law, Pansy E. Pettus of Florida; three grandchildren, Amanda Kirk, Payton Taber and husband Kyle, and Morgan Kirk.
Cecil was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Gene Pettus Jr., and a brother, James W. Pettus.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Harris Chapel with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
