| | | Allen Sherman Nelson, age 86, of Perry, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009. He was born November 27, 1922, in Mountain Home, Texas, a son of the late Plenny Louis Nelson and Bessie Edna Clements Nelson. He was a retired Fighter Pilot for the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Matlock Nelson of Perry; four children, Kathy L. Wales of Perry, Vicki M. Meyers-Wallen of Ithaca, New York, Allen S. Nelson Jr. of Perry, and Mark B. Nelson of Perry; one sister, Rena Scott of Tarpley, Texas; five grandchildren, Denise L. Wales, Robert A. Wales, Allen Nelson IV, Brodie Nelson and Callie Nelson; two great-grandchildren, Bradyn and Caleb Nelson.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Oppelo First Baptist Church with Bro. Gene Tanner officiating. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Austin, Texas. Local arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
