Naomi Bunger Yeaman, 100, passed away at 12:04 PM, April 14, 2012 at the Four Seasons Health Care Center in Columbus, Indiana. She was born near Quercus Grove, Indiana, a small farming community in Switzerland County, June 26, 1911, the daughter of Clayton and Carrie Keith Bunger.
Naomi graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1929 and attended Indiana Business College prior to working at the Indiana License Bureau and then at International Harvester in Indianapolis. She retired from the U.S. Veterans Administration in 1974 after 33 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Naomi married Robert M. Yeaman, October 7, 1939 in Indianapolis. They were married 44 years prior to his death, February 11, 1984. They had resided in Henryville and Scottsburg after she retired. Naomi moved to the Four Seasons Residential Center in Columbus from Clarksville, Indiana in 2004.
Mrs. Yeaman was member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist church and also had been affiliated with the Scottsburg United Methodist church in Scottsburg, IN.
Naomi loved flowers, vegetable gardening, butterflies and cats. She liked to watch NASCAR and INDY racing and loved to drive as she traveled with the many friends she had made over the years.
Mrs. Yeaman is survived by her sister, Flora B. Weiland, Harrisburg, PA, and by a niece, Susan W. Ewing (Ken) of Newport, PA. as well as by several cousins. For several years she had been lovingly cared for by her cousin, Nancy Stivers and husband John of Edinburgh, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday at the Markland Funeral Home, 327 N. High St., Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the service with the Rev. Doug Wallace officiating. Burial will be at the Rising Sun New Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donorsÂ’ choice.
