Funeral mass for Stella Maria Vargas, 67, of Hale Center, TX, was held 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church with Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX.
Rosary services were set for 7:30, Tuesday evening, September 29, 2009 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Vargas was born February 8, 1942 in Hale Center, Texas and she died at her residence in Hale Center.
She married Felix Vargas on February 14, 1970 in Plainview, Texas. He died on September 24, 1996. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
She is survived by 3 sons; Steve Rocha of Phoenix, AZ, Tom Rocha of Denton, TX, Fernando Vargas of Lubbock, 5 daughters; Sylvia Castillo of Hale Center, Christine Castillo of Harker Heights, TX, Tina Martinez of Plano, TX, Misty Vargas of Plainview, TX, Stacy Vargas of Lubbock, TX, 9 brothers and sisters; Tony Garcia and Martin Garcia, both of Hale Center, Ruby Castillo of Lubbock, TX, Julia Rocha and Alice Caberra, both of West Valley City, Utah, Claudie Garza of Parkersville, West Va, Josie Ridenour of Wabash IN, Manuel Garcia of Boise, ID, Gloria Soto of Phoenix, AZ; 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
