Graveside services for Harold Thomas, 76, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Friday, October 23, 2009, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mr. Thomas died Monday evening, October 19, 2009, in Hale County, TX.
He was born May 25, 1933 in Waco, TX and moved to Abernathy in 1949 and graduated from Abernathy High School.He married Billie Ann Thomas on July 11, 1953 in Abernathy, TX, and she preceded him in death September 10, 2009. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and he was a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benson Thomas, who was killed in action while serving in the Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Thomas is survived by a son, David Thomas of Abernathy, TX and a daughter, Debra Thomas of McKinney, TX, 2 brothers, John P. Thomas of Roundrock, TX and Robert E. Thomas of Lubbock, TX, a sister, Annese Darter of Wellington, TX, 5 nephews and 5 nieces.
