B. J. Robbins was born March 31, 1929 in Lubbock County, TX to James Herbert and Allie (Scott) Robbins. He married Elizabeth Ann Magness on November 10, 1946 in Lubbock County. They had lived in Petersburg and Abernathy before moving to New Deal 56 years ago. He was a farmer and a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Robbins died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, in Lubbock, TX.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Robbins, June of 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Robbins of Idalou, TX, 2 sons, Joe Robbins and his wife Linda of Pasadena, TX, and Jim Robbins and his wife Beverley of Lubbock, TX, a daughter, Cheryl Dunn and her husband Robin of Abernathy, TX. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Michael & Brandon Robbins, Dawn, Benjamin and Nathan Robbins and Kyle & Kendall Dunn. One sister, Patsy Lofton and her husband Mickey of Beeville, TX and a sister-in-law, Barbara Robbins of Idalou, TX also survive him.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Hope Lodge, c/o American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd Street, Lubbock, TX 79423 or to Hospice of Lubbock, P. O. Box 16800, Lubbock, TX 79408.

The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm. A private family graveside service will be held in the Idalou Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
