| | | Lynn Zylstra, age 50, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. Rev. Gideon Wamala officiating.
Burial on Tuesday, August 19, at 2:00 P.M. at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation will be Monday, August 18, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. all at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley.
Lynn Joel Zylstra was born on October 16, 1957, in Sheldon, Iowa. He was the son of Andrew and Kathleen (Smit) Zylstra. He was baptized at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa, where he attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School, Sheldon Community School and received vocational training at Hope Haven in Rock Valley, Iowa. He was employed at Double H Industries in Rock Valley for many years.
Lynn married Sharon Vander Plaats of Sanborn, Iowa, on August 5, 1988, in Sanborn. They made their home in Rock Valley.
He was a faithful member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley and involved in church activities.
Lynn enjoyed area sporting events, fishing, pheasant hunting with his family, and helping on the farm. He was a Twins and Vikings fan.
He passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Sharon Zylstra of Rock Valley, IA; his parents: Andrew and Kathleen Zylstra of Sheldon, IA; brother and sister-in-law: Rick and Sue Zylstra of Sheldon, IA, and their children: Shane, Kelsey and Kayla; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Karla and Rick Weyen of Sheldon, IA, and their children: Amber Jacobson and Eric Jacobson; Shelley and Jairus David of Newburgh, IN, and their children: Adriana, Brennan and Blake; mother-in-law: Jessie Vander Plaats of Sanborn, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joyce Meister of Sheldon, IA, Beverly and Michael Baumgarn of Sibley, IA, Ruth and Don Post of Orange City, IA, Paul and Kim Vander Plaats of Little Rock, IA, Robert Vander Plaats of Sibley, IA, Bryan Vander Plaats of Sanborn, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Walter Vander Plaats.
