| | | Margaret Norton, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon. Rev. Marcus Moffitt officiating.
Burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock, Iowa.
Visitation will be Monday, October 26, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Margaret Eleanor Norton, the daughter of Olle L. and Dena (Rees) Hanson, was born on August 1, 1925, in Kandota Township, Sauk Centre, Minnesota, where she lived her youth, attended school, and graduated from high school.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Norton of Westport, Minnesota, on April 5, 1950, in Sauk Centre. They lived in Sheldon, Iowa, where Margaret assisted Ken at Ken’s Repair, for many years. She was also a waitress for L’Trio Grill and Coxie’s Café.
Margaret was a member of the Church of Christ when it was in Sheldon. She volunteered for Upper Des Moines in Sheldon.
When she was in her 30’s she enjoyed shooting bow and arrow. Margaret and Ken were members of an Archery Club at Hills Park in Sheldon.
She also enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, playing bingo, going to household auctions and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, playing card games.
Ken passed away on August 9, 2002. Margaret moved to Prairie View Home in Sanborn, in 2004, where she passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Deanna and Stanley Nagel of Sheldon, IA, Joan and Jim Barnes of Garwin, IA, Susan Kunze of Eagle Grove, IA, Barbara Norton and Dick Newby of Yates Center, KS; 31 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister: Pearl Beste of Sauk Rapids, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth; son: Dennis Norton; grandson: Damon Norton; her parents; brother: Donald Hanson; sister: Dorothy Nelson.
