Does Direct Cremation Require Embalming? |
|
|
I understand embalming is not required by federal law, but that in some states it is required after 24 hours of death unless refrigeration or sealed casket is available. If embalming must be done to satisfy the state's requirements, do I have to pay for the embalming if I wish a direct cremation? The crematory should be able to supply refrigeration until the cremation takes place so embalming would not be necessary. Thanks -- Jack Springer |
