Funeral Processions |

Please tell me the reason why someone precedes the hearse at some funerals. In some communities it is customary for the clergy to precede the hearse. Just as the clergy escort the casket out of a church or other sanctuary, one does so in the procession as well. Often it is the funeral director that provides that accommodation to the clergy to accomplish just that. -- David R. Shirley |
