Lois M. Roark Thurston, 90, of National Road died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Thurston retired from Irwin Union Bank & Trust, where she was a lockbox receptionist. She was a member of First Christian Church, CREAK Club, Bartholomew County Senior Center and Columbus Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 339, where she was past worthy matron and past president of District 4 Order of Eastern Star. She also was past mother advisor of Rainbow for Girls.
She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dan Wallace officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Montgomery County on Sept. 24, 1916, Mrs. Thurston was the daughter of Marion and Mae Hutchins Bush. She married James E. Roark on Sept. 24, 1939. He preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1960. She married Marvin C. Thurston on Aug. 24, 1973.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Sue King of Columbus and Ann (Bob) Ruddick of Chester, Mont.; a son, J. Evan (Susan) Roark of Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Sharri (Don) Weaver of Columbus; a sister, Marilyn (Dale) Houser of New Ross; seven grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; eight greatgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a sister, Leah Mae Williams; and brothers, Samuel and Cecil Bush.
