Mary M. Axsom, 87, of Cleveland Street, went to rest in the arms of the Lord, Friday,
November 9, 2007. She passed away at 10:15 a.m. at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient
Facility.
Mrs.
Axsom was a homemaker, was of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith where she was active in the ladies auxiliary, enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed gardening.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Dale Goddard and Nick Seniour officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and noon to time of service Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mrs. Axsom was born in Bloomington, January 13, 1920, the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude Mae Fleetwood. She married William Axsom on April 12, 1941.
Survivors include her children, Terry (Sandy) Axsom, Sheila (Stacy) Axsom, Barbara Dunham and Patsy Wynne, all of Columbus, and Freeda Melton of Gainesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Randy (Kim) Melton and Vicki Neurer, both of Columbus, Susie Melton of Gainesboro, Tenn., Toni (Bob) Jolley of Newport, Ore., Lisa Vaughn and Tami (Larry) Anderson, both of Lakota, N.D., Tim and Rob Dunham, Curtis and Stacey Axsom, all of Columbus; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 6, 2000; a son, Ronald William Axsom; brothers, Charles, James, Doyle and Garnold Fleetwood; sisters, Myrtle Fleetwood, Rena Jones and Ethel Hillenberg and an infant sister, Mabel Fleetwood; a grandchild, Ronda Carol Dunham; and sons-in-law, Bobby Melton and Carroll Dunham.
