| | | Bernadine E. Abplanalp, 85, of Muriel Place died at 10:52 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Abplanalp worked at the former C.P. Electronics, was a retired Cummins Engine Co. factory worker and also had been a sales associate at J.C. Penney. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling in the motor home and spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Revs. James A. Seddon and Robert E. Lay officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. A Ladies of the Moose memorial will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springer Cemetery.

Born in Oberlin, Kan., March 2, 1922, Mrs. Abplanalp was the daughter of Angus and Maude Kelley Barrett. She married Raymond R. Cox Sept. 7, 1939. He preceded her in death in May 1979. She married George Abplanalp in August 1985. He survives.
Survivors also include children, Glen Ray Cox and Carolyn (Floyd) McClintic, both of Columbus; stepchildren, Greg (Sandra) and Steve Abplanalp, both of North Vernon, and Lisa Abplanalp of Indianapolis; a sister, Eula Grooms of Columbus; a half brother, Paul (Diane) Barrett of Elizabethtown; stepsisters, Lois Perry and Geneva Collins, both of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a stepson, Robert Abplanalp; and a sister, Beulah Harrington.
