Robert D. Adams, 77, of Elizabethtown, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Adams was a retired over-the-road truck driver, driving for IWX and CTI. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Columbus Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, NASCAR, street stocks and dirt track racing.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Mitchell J. Coggin officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Friday. A Moose memorial service will be at 7:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In keeping with Mr. Adams’ wishes, cremation will follow the service.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Jennings County or the donor’s choice of charities.

Born March 30, 1931 in Portland, Oregon, Mr. Adams was the son of George and Helen Landon Adams. He married Frances I. Petro, Jan. 8, 1972.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Adams (Jewel Krise) of Elizabethtown; a grandson, Trent Adams of Elizabethtown; brothers-in-law, Russ (Linda) Petro of Columbus, Curt (Karen) Petro of Elizabethtown and Art (Rhonda) Petro of North Vernon; sisters-in-law, Lois (Milton) Smith and Judy Mankin, both of Elizabethtown, Betty (Bob) Watts of Scipio, Barbara Petro of Deland, FL and Donna Losey of Columbus and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-inlaw, Eugene and Paul Petro.
