James O. “Biggun” Baldwin, 73, of North Talley Road died at 11:06 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Jim formerly worked at American Can Co., formerly owned the Sinclair gas station in Scottsburg and retired Oct. 1, 1999, from Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, where he was a prototype model maker.
He was a husband, a father, a poppy, a model maker and an amateur archaeologist. He was a member of Ogilville Church of Christ, Scott County Genealogy Society and Indiana Explorers Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, arrowhead hunting, reading, working crossword puzzles and piddling in his garage.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Martin E. Wright offi ciating. Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation is planned following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ogilville Church of Christ Elevator Fund or Hilltop Christian Camp Vision Fund.

Born in Scott County on April 19, 1935, Jim was the son of Ralph W. and Bertha Cooley Baldwin. He married Nancy Lou Walker on Feb. 8, 1957, at Lexington Church of Christ in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife; children, Melana (Drew) Fischer of Clarksville, Christopher (Cindy) Baldwin of Columbus, Tracy (Steve) Frensemeier of Greensburg and Jeanna (David) Fredericksen of Columbus; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Baldwin, David Scott Baldwin, Avery Lane Browning, Kaitlyn Drew Fischer, Christian David Fredericksen, Erin Lynae Browning, Abigail Nicole Fredericksen, James Robert Frensemeier and Walker Mitchell Frensemeier; a sister, Feneta Stewart of Scottsburg; a sisterin-law, Rosemary Baldwin of Kokomo; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert W. Baldwin.
