|James R. Elkins, 69, of County Road 700 South, died at 3:17 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Elkins was a retired self-employed concrete finisher. He attended Garden City Church of Christ, was an avid recycler and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing the guitar.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Cemetery with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation is not planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Columbus October 4, 1939, Mr. Elkins was the son of Harold and Amy Reeves Elkins. He married Goldie Sanford November 13, 1964.
Survivors include his wife; children, James E. (Soledad) Elkins of North Vernon, Diana (John) Gore of Flat Rock and Karen (Junior) Mays of Columbus; a brother, Charles (Nancy) Elkins of Brown County; eight grandchildren and a greatgranddaughter.
Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pauline Penrose and Peg Gourley; and a brother, Ken Reeves.
