Waldo R. Bannister, 68, of West Old Nashville Road, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Bannister was the youngest of twelve children and was born the seventh son.
M r. Bannister worked in the maintenance department at Cummins Engine Company retiring in 2002 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Diesel Workers Union and a former member of the Columbus Moose Lodge. A car enthusiast, he enjoyed tinkering with old cars and watching westerns.
A funeral service is not planned. Public visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Cremation will take place following the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Born in Jennings County June 10, 1941, Mr. Bannister was the son of David and May Jolly Bannister.
Survivors include his sons, Bryan Bannister of Indianapolis and Jason (Shannon) Bannister and Alex (Rachael) Bannister both of Columbus; grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew Andrews, Dylan Prather and Alexis Bannister, all of Columbus; sisters, Charlene (Tom) Starnes, Mildred Ault and Ruth Bannister, all of Columbus; brothers, Bob Bannister of Henderson, Ky. and Lloyd (Mary) Bannister of Columbus; his twin brother, Walter (Jan) Bannister of Taylorsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bannister was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie Lang and Martha Dean; and brothers, Ernest, Garnett and Marion Bannister.
