Kenneth L. Allison Sr., 89, of West Indiana 46 died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Allison was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland and was a prisoner of war. He retired in 1979 from Cummins Engine Co. where he worked on the bearing cap line at Plant One. He had a flower and produce business at his home where he grew and sold mums, vegetables and strawberries. He was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 24.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Patrick Tyndall officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial will be at City Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Born Dec. 10, 1916, in Columbus, Mr. Allison was the son of Omer G. and Sarah J. Rice Allison. He married Lola Bennett on Nov. 8, 1947.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Lynn Allison Jr. of Columbus; daughters, Betha (Larry) Bailey and Mary (Melvin) Bennett, both of Columbus, and Gayle (Patrick) Tyndall of South Carolina; grandchildren, Kyle Allison, Ann, Melvin Jr., Mark and Erin Bennett, Amy and Scott Bailey, Patrick and Jacob Raleigh, and Bethany, Ashley, Anna, Jennifer and Linda Tyndall; and great–grandchildren, Alyssa, Paige, Kyle Jacob, Christian, Zeckaraih and Isaah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 2, 1998; two half sisters; and an infant brother.
