Larry J. Barker, 66, of Columbus died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Barker was an electrician with Indianapolis Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 40 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of 25th Street Church of Christ and Academy of Model Aeronautics.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Joseph Casimier officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born in Bartholomew County April 7, 1939, Mr. Barker was the son of Jesse E. and Evelyn M. Lane Barker. He married Donna Williams June 20, 1958. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1986. He married Helen J. Tipton on May 11, 1996.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Luanna Barker of Hope, Melissa (Geoff) Walker of Lafayette and Nicole Oakley of California; a sister, Judy (Arthur) DePugh of Hope; a daughter-in-law, Susan Barker of Hope; and grandchildren, Drew and Brandon Barker, Luke, Sam and Max Walker and Monica and Regan Oakley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Chris Barker.
