Jack E. Baute, 77, of Road 700W died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Baute retired in 1990 from the maintenance department at Cosco where he worked for 36 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for 12 years.

He was a member of Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church and formerly served on Ohio Township Advisory Board.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Kent Mingus and Howard Bell officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Born in Columbus May 28, 1928, Mr. Baute was the son of Ralph E. and Irene L. Harrison Baute. He married Dorothy E. Zike on Oct. 22, 1949.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Dennis L. (Charlene) Baute of Columbus and William R. (Gwen) Baute of Westport; daughters, Shelley I. Baute and Cindy J. (Bruce) MacTavish, both of Seymour; grandchildren, Cory, Mark, Brad, Kim, Kelly, Brent, Lindsey, John, Zack, Symon and Kali; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Baute; and a grandson, Jacob Baute.
