| | | William M. Ballard, 86, of Columbus died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at the Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Ballard was formerly employed at Simpson's Landscaping, Engelking Patterns and the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.
He enjoyed fishing.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mr. Ballard was born in Barren County, Ky., May 11, 1920. He was the son of Vince and Mert Shaw Ballard.
Survivors include sons, Charles T. (Beverly) Ballard of Columbus, Clifton D. (Janet) Ballard of Taylorsville and Gary W. (Debra) Ballard of Hope; daughters, Betty (Donald) Ison and Brenda D. (Jacinto Jr.) Villa, both of Columbus; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Horrace and Clyde Ballard; sisters, Bessie Jewell, Juanita Waldon, Lucille Nichols, Lois Taylor, Alene Vincent, Madiline Ferguson and Catherine Davis.
