Virginia D. Bailey, 86, of Columbus died at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bailey was a homemaker and formerly worked at the Suhre Inn. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Jim Pursley and John McKay officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born in Franklin July 26, 1920, Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of Charles and Cloe Allender Ford. She married Leroy G. Bailey Feb. 8, 1940.

Survivors include sons, William (Betty) Bailey, Larry (Beth) Bailey, Edward (Barbara) Bailey and Randall (Mary) Bailey, all of Columbus, and Norman (Sue) Bailey of Scipio; a stepson, Gilbert (Nancy) Bailey of Shelbyville; daughters Donna Richey and Patricia (Sam) McInteer, Loretta (Hollett) Brown and Pamela (Tim) Scroghan, all of Columbus, and Carolyn (James) Hamm of Hope; brothers, Paul Ford of Tennessee, Carl Ford of Wyoming and Robert Ford of Columbus; a sister, Betty Sears of Edinburgh; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 13, 1984; three brothers; five sisters; and a great-grandson.
