Gertrude Sermersheim age 101 of Ireland died at 4:30 a.m. today (March 19, 2008) at the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Center in Evansville, Indiana, she had been a resident there for many years.
She was born at St. Henry, Indiana on December 18, 1906 to Albert and Elizabeth (Lindauer) Beyke – she married Joseph Sermersheim on June 5, 1934 in St. Henry Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on May 20, 1984.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.
Surviving are 4 daughters and 2 son;

26 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren
Preceding her in death besides her husband is 1 son James T. Sermersheim. 5 brothers, Alex, Theodore and Valentine and 2 brothers died in infancy and 2 sisters, Agnes and Melania Beyke also 3 grandchildren preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Gertrude Sermersheim will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (March 24, 2008) in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. (CDT) Saturday (March 22, 2008) in the chapel at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Evansville, Indiana and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher – Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland or to the Sisters of St. Benedict at Ferdinand.
