Mary Ann Birk age 80 of Jasper passed away at 7:30 A.M. Saturday November 29, 2008 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. She was born December 3, 1927 at Dubois to: John C. and Mary Ann (Seng) Matheis.
She married Elmer Birk August 16, 1947 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois. He passed away February 7, 1991.
Memberships include: Charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality of Holy Family.
Surviving: 4 Daughters-Mrs. Jay (Suzanne) Ruxer Ft. Myers FL., Mrs. Jim (Janet) Howe of Jasper, Mrs. Spike (Carolyn) Gehlhausen of Speedway IN., and Mrs.Dave Mona Cordell of Fishers IN.
4 sons-Terry of Bretzville, IN., Tom and John Birk both of Jasper, and Kenny Birk of Westfield IN.
1 sister-Mrs. John Celine Schott of Dubois

6 Great Grandchildren
Preceded in death besides her husband are 6 brothers- Hilary, Marcus, Bernard, Herman, Gene, and Richard”Dick” Matheis, and 3 sisters-Genevieve Seger, Lucille Seger, and Sally Phelan.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday December 2, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit, and Holy Family Catholic Church.
