She also leaves behind a team of phenomenal directors and staff at Memorial Hospital who she loved and loved to lead.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Beth Ann Tempel, 3 brothers and 1 sister who died in infancy, her dear friends Sue Ahring, Bambie McFarland, and Gayle Coley.
She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and The Little Company of Mary Associates which was a testament to her commitment to the Mission at Memorial Hospital. She was part of the Jasper Optimist Club and the Community Patient Safety Coalition.
Kathleen Tempel was Vice President of Patient Services at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was a graduate of Dale High School, she earned a nursing diploma at Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville and a bachelor’s degree in nursing at University of Evansville. She began her career in nursing at Deaconess Hospital where she worked for 25 years. She relocated to Jasper in 1999 when she was appointed the Director of Quality services and was named Vice President of Patient Services in February 2007.
Kat was an amazing soul who knew her true calling at the age of six: she lived to care for others. She loved nursing and was a “nurse’s nurse”. She was an unbelievable mother and an even better aunt, but she was the best at being a Nana. Her will could accomplish any task. As a girl from Dale, Indiana, she was proud that she had been all over the world, even to Kathmandu, Nepal. And, of course, she was the Queen of Everything.
Funeral service for Ms. Tempel will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (February 10, 2010) in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Dale, Indiana.
