Margaret "Peggy" Schmitt age 93 of Ireland passed away 9:15 P.M. EST. Wednesday July 6, 2011 at St. John's Home of the Aged in Evansville. She was born September 15, 1917 in Jasper to: Thomas and Emma (Hopf) Giesler. She married Linus Schmitt June 20, 1939. He passed away February 18, 1978.
Surviving: 6 daughters-Mrs. Gerald (Darlene) Jacob of Ferdinand, Mrs. Kenneth (Rosemary) Heim, and Mrs. Ray (Sheryl) Mehling both of Jasper, Margie Hubert of Louisville, Florence Schmitt and John Ward, and Cindy Schmitt of Evansville.
3 sons-Amos Schmitt of Velpen, Charles Schmitt of Grayson GA. and Randy Schmitt of Jasper.
4 sisters-Catherine Kluemper Luebbers, and Rosie Fromme both of Jasper, Caroline Saint Clair of Cincinatti OH. , Frieda Gehlhausen of Santa Claus, and Armela Hail of Indianapolis.

37 Great Grandchildren 1 Great great grandson.
Preceded in death besides her husband are 3 sisters-Hilda Lemond Kays, Bernardine Mehringer, and Roberta Sternberg, 5 brothers-Martin, Louis, Vic, Elmer, and Thomas Giesler.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. There will be a Rosary at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home by St. Ann's Society and St. Mary Parish.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday July 11, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
