Edward J. “Coon” Yaggi, age 91, passed away at 2:47 p.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born at Tell City, Indiana on December 13, 1920 to Edward and Katherine (Leistner) Yaggi. He married Mary Eleanor Patterson on June 10, 1944, she preceded him in death on February 21, 1999.

Coon Edward Yaggi was a WWII Army Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He retired in 1994 as owner and operator of Yaggi’s Café in Jasper which he and his brother Kenneth operated since 1946.

Memberships include; St. Joseph Catholic Church - Schnellville Conservation Club - American Legion Post # 147 and V.F.W. Post # 673 - Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club and the Jasper Moose Club.

Surviving are four daughters;
Mrs. Dennis (Joanne) Blake, Jasper, IN
Mrs. Doug (Kathy) Padgett, Newburg, IN
Ms. Barbara Douglas, Jasper, IN
Mrs. Timothy (Janet) Klem, Jasper, IN

8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren

Preceding him in death besides his wife are one brother, Kenneth Yaggi and four sisters, Edna Miller, Eva Kress, Lucille Bates and Hazel Ludwig.

Funeral services for Edward Yaggi will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (January 31, 2012 in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military grave side rites.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday (January 30, 2012) at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Jasper Moose will hold a memorial service at 6:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church - American Heart Association or to Chiari Malformation Foundation.
