Mary H. Giesler age 94 of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Jasper, Indiana died at
8:00 a.m. Saturday (October 2, 2004) at the Westminster Village North in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
She was born on February 3, 1910 at Jasper, Indiana to Fred and Frances (Hedinger)
Hoffman. She married Walter J. Giesler on November 5, 1930, he preceded her in death
on February 17, 1993.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Jeanne E. Steinfeld, Indianapolis, IN
2 grandchildren; Laura Gretencord and Walter Joseph Steinfeld 3 great grandchildren,
Andrew, Alexander and Caroline
Mary and her husband owned and operated the Walmar Cafe and other Cafe’s for over
20 years in Jasper, Indiana. Mary was famous for her Fried Chicken recipe.
In Indianapolis Mary and her husband invested in real estate property and Mary also
worked for 15 years and retired from the William H. Block Company in Indianapolis.
Mary is remembered by all as being dedicated to her faith ,family and her work.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are 4 brothers, Martin, Ferdinand, Fred, and
Edgar Hoffman. 3 sisters, Lorraine Mundy, Charlotte Schlachter and Emma Schilling.
Also two infants who died in infancy
Funeral services for Mary Giesler will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (October 5, 2004) in
St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in
Jasper.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Jasper or the American Alzheimer’s Association .
