James S. Becher
Becher, James S. ALBANY James Sanford Becher, 57, of Albany, died Friday, October 9, 2009 peacefully in his home. He was born on Long Island, N.Y., son of the late James S. Becher Sr. and Doris Bailing Becher. A resident of Long Island for more than 40 years, Jimmy moved to Upstate New York in 1993. A member of a simple, spiritual fellowship for more than 15 years, Jimmy went beyond merely asking for the power to live up to God's plan for his own life. He sought out ways to be of service, to make a difference in the lives of other people, to carry a message of hope and the promise of freedom. Jimmy lived under the spiritual principles that he was taught and that he passed on to countless others ~ he strove to be "happy, joyous and free." Everyday he told others about a simple spiritual - not religious - program known as Narcotics Anonymous. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, friend, member, sponsor and sponsee. Jimmy had an avid love of tattoos; his most recent acquisition just two short weeks ago was of King Heroin with a circle around him and a line through it. Besides his fellowship family, he is survived by his mother, Doris Becher of Long Island, N.Y.; his brother, Kenny Becher of Long Island, N.Y.; his sister, Betsy Doremous and her husband Tom of Long Island, N.Y.; his two nieces, Kim Holbrook and her husband Brian and Danielle Doremous and her fianc? Jason Pedneault; his nephew, Kenny Becher Jr.; and his grandnephew, Gage Holbrook. Family, friends and fellowship are invited and may call Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 3-7 p.m. at the Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. The traditional viewing will be conducted from 3-5 p.m. immediately followed by a meeting from 5-7 p.m.
