1934 – 2009

Russell Lee “Jim” Rasnic, 74, Fillmore, Missouri passed from this life on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph. Jim was born September 22, 1934 in Forest City, Missouri to Ernest and Charlene (Dodge) Rasnic. He married Carole June Hamm on October 2, 1956. She preceded him in death on September 10, 1995. Jim worked at Richman Screw And Anchor, retiring in 1994. He also farmed and raised livestock. Jim loved to hunt for arrowheads. He also loved to coon and deer hunt. Jim was a great storyteller and loved to tell stories. Jim was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. His parents; brother, Junior Rasnic; and son, Stephen Rasnic; also preceded Jim in death. Survivors: companion, Lee Ann, of the home; son, Elvin Rasnic and wife, Brenda, Fillmore, Missouri; daughters, Deborah Westcott and husband, Gerry, Vacaville, California; Julie Rasnic Stewart and husband, Lonnie, St. Joseph; brother, Bud Rasnic, Chimney Rock, Nebraska; sisters, Betty Todd; Margaret Sherlock; Dorothy Turner; Bonnie Schieb, all of St. Joseph; Helen Rasnic, Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Brandon Rasnic and wife, Kristen; Heather Richardson and husband, Jamie; Russell Rasnic, II; Hillary Westcott; Julie Jenkins; Jack Stewart; great grandchildren, Blake and Autumn Rasnic; Temple Richardson; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM Monday May 4, 2009 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment at Fillmore, Missouri Cemetery. Public viewing and family receiving 4 to 7 PM Sunday. All family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Masonic Lodge, Fillmore, Missouri after the service. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
