1917 – 2009 Iris May (McGeorge) Gutschow, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. She was born October 8, 1917 in Guilford, Missouri to Chesley and Grace (Weathermon) McGeorge. Iris was a 1937 graduate of Guilford High School and a graduate of the Business College, Trenton, Missouri. She was a secretary for the U.S. Government at the Pentagon; and was also a secretary at Heyer Boot Company and the School of Deaf, both in Olathe, Kansas. Iris married Johnnie Gutschow on September 30, 1968 in Mound City, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1998. Her parents; a brother, Eldon McGeorge; sister, Elsie Miller and a niece, Beverly Miller also preceded Iris in death. Survivors: niece, Elaine Haist, Barnard, Missouri; nephews, Philip McGeorge, Guilford, Missouri; Herbert McGeorge; a cousin, Kevin Heckman; and her friend with whom she enjoyed walking with, Joy Johnson; all of St. Joseph. Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment at Weathermon Cemetery, Guilford, Missouri. Public viewing and family receiving from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to the American Foundation for the Blind. | ||
