1924 – 2009 John Thomas Huey, Sr., 84, Savannah, Missouri passed from this life on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, Missouri. John was born June 1, 1924 in Bethany, Missouri to Lee Roy and Meretta (Zimmerlee) Huey. He served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II. John married Mary Ann Starke on August 29, 1946 at Columbia, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2002. He worked as a foreman at the St. Joseph News-Press. John enjoyed fishing, woodworking, music and reading. He was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church. His parents; an infant son, Charles L. Huey; and sister, Evelyn Brown; also preceded John in death. Survivors: son, John T. Huey, Jr. and wife, Pat, Gower, Missouri; daughter, Ruth Huey, Trimble, Missouri; sister, Annabelle Horton, Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren, Scott Huey and wife, Kristi, Hawaii; Ann Sirois and husband, Ricky, Overland Park, Kansas; great grandchildren, Myles and Jackson Huey; and several nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Mr. Huey will be cremated following the service. Inurnment with full military honors at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 4 at Savannah Cemetery. Public viewing after 12:00 PM Monday, June 1. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday. The family suggests memorials to Savannah United Methodist Church or the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri. | ||
