1924 – 2009

Mildred M. (Silcott) Taylor, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph. She was born January 8, 1924 in St. Joseph to James and Leota (Newland-McCoy) Silcott. Mildred worked for Noma Lites, Whitaker Cable then in the laundry and food service department at the St. Joseph State Hospital for 20 years until retiring in 1988. She was a Christian. Mildred dearly loved the slot machines, gambling, dancing, chocolate, and the dog, Sparkles. She was a member of the “60 Club” and was a volunteer at Calvin Center and Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Center and enjoyed doing crafts. She was the best “Nana” ever and will be sadly missed. Mildred was preceded in death by 3 husbands, John Jimenez, Harold Bowers and Earl Taylor; a daughter, Connie Mae Ashworth; 3 brothers, Norman, Floyd and Don Silcott; an infant sister, Anna May Silcott, a sister, Naomi Dotson; and a granddaughter, Becky Looney. Survivors: a son and daughter-in-law, John and Gail Jimenez; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Nicholas, Savannah, MO, Ramona and Tom Stumpf, Etta Mae and Pat Wildberger, stepdaughter, Sue Ann Martin and husband, Jack; brother and sister-in-law, George and Etta Jane Silcott; sisters, Leta Rainez and Joan Butler, all of St. Joseph; numerous grandchildren, great and several great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life: 10:30 AM Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Gladden-Stamey Chapel. Interment in Ashland Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Public viewing and family receiving hours 9:30 – 10:30 AM Saturday
