1923 – 2009
Rosemary D. Paden, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Living Community of St. Joseph. She was born June 13, 1923 in St. Joseph. Rosemary married Wallace Neal Paden on February 1, 1943 in St. Joseph and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1988. Rosemary was also preceded in death by her father, Jacob Swails and her mother, Maria “Pat”(Woods) Swails Callison. Rosemary graduated from Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 and was a registered nurse at Missouri Methodist Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1985. She was a volunteer staff nurse at Camp Geiger. Rosemary was a member of Woodson Chapel Christian Church, Mary Martha Circle and Christian Womens Fellowship at the Church. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter Areme #461, and dual member of Pearl Chapter #529; Past Matron, Past District Deputy Grand Matron of the 9th District and Past Grand Representative of Alberta. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Wally and Sharon Paden, Kansas City, MO, and Ken and Deborah Paden, St. Joseph; daughter, Janet Paden Wilson, of the home; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Swails, Winona, MN; 3 granddaughters, Lori Dull, Smithville, MO, Angela Compton, Abilene, TX, Amanda Paden, St. Joseph; 2 step granddaughters, Shari and Jari Wilson, Tucson, AZ; 4 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Celebration of Life: 2:30 PM Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Gladden-Stamey Chapel, St. Joseph, with an O.E.S. service to follow. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public viewing and family receiving hours 1-2:30 PM Thursday. Memorial donations to Woodson Chapel Christian Church or to the donor’s choice.
