Harlow S. Feavel
Appleton

Age 99, passed away Thursday January 29, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Appleton on December 27, 1909, son of the late Thomas R. and the late Minnie C. (Rohde) Feavel. Harlow lived in the Appleton area most of his life. He was united in marriage to Helen Reinke on August 24, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville, sharing 53 years together until Helen’s passing in 2000. He started his painting & decorating career in his Father’s business and later with his brothers. He served four years in the Army’s Sixth Armored Division including the D-Day invasion, Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star. He continued his trade postwar as a self-employed painter and later worked for area contractors. He spent the final 10 years of his painting career at The Institute of Paper Chemistry retiring in 1973. He had a lifelong enjoyment of fishing, cars, and horses. Prewar, he was an active equestrian and horse owner. He is survived by a son Stan and his wife Jeanie, Appleton. Further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers: William, Harvey, Leland, Rodney, Ledgard; and four sisters: Ruby Jessen, Pearl Smith, Grace Kielcheski, and Doneda Schaefer. Funeral services will be held 11 am on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Ave., Appleton, with the Rev. Robert Raasch officiating. Committal Service with full Military Honors will follow Saturday 1:30 pm at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of Service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church.
