Fickel, Myrtle E.
Appleton

Myrtle age 92, died Friday March 6, 2009, at her home after a short illness. Myrtle was born November 21, 1916, in Appleton, to the late Ferdinand and Minnie (Gerhardt) Schultz, and lived in Appleton her entire life. On November 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Lester Fickel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. The couple enjoyed almost 50 years together until his death in 1992. Years ago she was employed by Zwicker Knitting Mills.

She loved spending time at the family cottage in Shawano, and also enjoyed going to the casino, and was an avid Bingo player. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, and was an active member at Faith Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her 3 sons and their children and grandchildren: Son Robert (Becky) Fickel, Appleton, granddaughter Angie Fickel (fiancé Jason Sargeant), great grandson Arik; granddaughter Chrissy (David) Belau and great granddaughter Emma; granddaughter Katie Fickel, and great grandson Austin. Son Kenneth (Denise) Fickel, Appleton, grandchildren Ryan Fickel, Kevin Fickel, Leslie (Jesse) Matz, Cory Fickel, and Nicholas Fickel. Son Dennis (Lorie) Fickel, Grand Chute, grandson Brandon (Lisa) Fickel, great granddaughters McKenah and Kylee; granddaughter Britney Fickel. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Judy, and 2 brothers: Alvin and Harold Schultz.

A Funeral Service for Myrtle will be held 11 AM on Monday March 9, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Gelandale Ave., Appleton. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Center. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
