Rohde, Betty W. (Anderson)

Betty Rohde (Anderson) passed away peacefully Monday morning, April 6, 2009, with her husband Everett by her side. She was born in Appleton, September 27, 1937, the youngest of four children to the late Evelyn Anderson (Schultz) and Walter G. Anderson. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1955 and worked for a local attorney, the late Frank Nehs, as a legal secretary until marrying Everett on May 2, 1959, at First English Lutheran Church of Appleton. Betty was a key part of Ev’s photography business for over 40 years here in Appleton, Rohde Photo, keeping the books and scheduling appointments. She also worked for an extended period of time for Dr. Thomas Luther, a local dermatologist, and later continued to work as a medical secretary, after moving to Wisconsin Rapids, for a doctor‘s office in that city. Both Ev and Betty, retired in 1992, returning to live in Appleton. She had been an active member her entire life at First English Lutheran Church of Appleton, involved most recently with the Sarah Circle and the Quilting Group. Since retirement, Betty and Ev enjoyed traveling each year to a winter haven at Vista del Lago in Bradenton, FL. Much like Ev, Betty had a great love for gardening and spending time enjoying the outdoors. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Everett W. Rohde, her older brother, Kenneth (Nina) Anderson, her daughter Karen (Stephen) Severance of Dallas, TX and her son, Timothy W. Rohde and his fiancée Susie Halbach of Menasha, WI. She is survived by three grandchildren, Jonathan Severance, Jessica Severance, and Mason Rohde; and a sister in law Janet Anderson, Wisconsin Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Joyce Theis and Carolyn Anderson, and 2 brothers Walter Jr. and Wallace Anderson.

The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E. North St., Appleton, WI, with Rev. Mary Bauer officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family has established a memorial fund.

Betty’s family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the staff at Theda Clark Medical Center and Appleton Medical Center as well as to Rennes Health Center of Appleton for their compassionate care and attention during her stay at those facilities.
