Appleton
Age 93, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Bessie was born September 3, 1915, in Oshkosh to the late Albert and Pearl (Cass) Platte, and has lived in the Appleton area for most of her life. On June 19, 1937, she was united in marriage to Norman Pleier. The couple enjoyed 69 years together until his death in 2006. Bessie worked for several years at Zwicker Knitting Mill and also for 16 years at H. C. Prange Co. She was a member at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton, where she belonged to the Ladies Mission Club.
She is survived by her daughter Susan (Robert) Ascher, Appleton; her son Richard (Patricia) Pleier, Appleton; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her brother Clinton (Daila) Platte, New London. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Father Justin Werner officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton.
