Appleton, formerly of Mackville
Age 80, was born to eternal life on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Renaissance in Appleton. Mary was born February 22, 1929 in Kaukauna to the late John P. and Mathilda (Pfeifer) Diedrich. On June 9, 1948, she was united in marriage to Joseph Schumacher at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple enjoyed 53 years together until his death in 2002. Mary, along with her husband and their children, worked on the family farm in Mackville for many years. She was very active at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville where she was a member of the Christian Women’s Association and the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed playing cards with her good friends in her Card Club, she also enjoyed working in her garden, and she loved to travel and spend winters at their home in Florida. Survivors include her daughter Carol (Dick) Shikoski, Oshkosh; son Tom (Donna) Schumacher, Mackville, daughter in law Donna (Rick) Brincks, Seymour; 8 grandchildren: Brian (Sara) Shikoski, Brent (Gina) Shikoski, Mark (Rachel) Shikoski, Brenda (Micah) Feinberg, Rick (Sherry) Stein, Adam Schumacher, Jaime (Aaron) Van Asten, and Luke (Jenny) Schumacher; 9 great grandchildren; sisters in law: Anna Jane Diedrich, De Pere, Mildred Huss, Little Chute, Rita (Ken) Hoffman, Appleton, Marion Schumacher, Neenah, and Therese Schumacher, Appleton; brothers in law: Norbert Blair, Kaukauna, Harold (Germaine) Schumacher, Little Chute, Maurice (Florus) Schumacher, Appleton, Eugene (Eleanor) Schumacher, Little Chute, Marvin (Leona) Schumacher, Rhinelander, John (Katie) Schumacher, Appleton, and Jim (Donna) Schumacher, Kimberly. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Stephen, grandson Mike, brother Leo Diedrich, sister Phyllis Blair, 4 brothers in law: Peter, Ray, and Clarence Schumacher, and Robert Huss, and a sister in law Betty Schumacher. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 12 noon on Friday May 15, 2009, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Hwy 47 Mackville, with the Rev. Charles Brooks officiating, and Rev. Justin Werner concelebrating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. A memorial fund is being established.
